Maybelline Fit Me Stick Foundation | Review

Monday 10 February 2014

Hi guys, back to do another review on the Maybelline Fit Me Stick Foundation which has been talked about all over YouTube and the blogosphere. This product recently hit shelves in Priceline roughly, a week and a half to two weeks ago I believe and when I picked mine up, it wasn't even on the shelves yet! It retails for $15.95 but I bought mine on sale for $13.55 when Priceline was having 15% off Maybelline products.
It is described as ".. a fresh gel foundation [that] blends to a natural matte finish. It's lightweight powder in the anti-shine core instantly dissolves excess oil." The foundation stick comes with 9g worth of product, not the average quantity for a foundation but it's a decent amount to use especially if you're using it as a touch up. It has a very sleek design with a clear cap so you can see the shade of foundation which is also handy! I picked up my shade in number 220 Natural Beige (just in case you guys were wondering!)

The first time I applied this foundation, I noticed that it glided onto the skin really nicely as it had a creamy consistency. It sets into the skin pretty quickly but I feel as if it doesn't set to a complete matte finish even though it's claimed to be a "shine-free" foundation. I then set it with a pressed powder to lock every thing in and my face looked really nice, clean and natural. It doesn't look cakey at all, doesn't cling onto dry patches nor does it have a scent which is great! On the website, it says using your fingers will give the best results but because I didn't read the website at first, I used a brush but in my opinion, it looks the same if I was using a brush or my fingers.

I would have to say that it's a light to medium coverage foundation so I wouldn't recommend it for special events such as parties or weddings but more so for a day out shopping, having lunch with your girlfriends or going to work. It didn't leave my skin looking flawless as you could still see A LITTLE redness around my nose and didn't cover up my little dark spots as well as some other foundations but it gives my skin a natural effect which I really like and my skin is still able to breathe. This foundation lasted for about 4-6 hours on my skin, without a primer. It doesn't have any SPF so it won't leave a white cast when you take flash photography which is awesome.
Overall, I like this foundation for day time wear because it looks great when I take photos, it's handy because it's so small meaning I can throw it into my makeup bag for touch ups, it's easy to apply and blend and also has the right coverage. I would recommend this product if you have normal to oily skin, but my dry skin lovelies out there, stay clear! It's an affordable product and I like the concept of it being a stick foundation and if you're into convenient products like me, you'll like this as well!
