Review: Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner

Thursday 27 June 2013

Hello again lovelies, I'm back to do a review on the Maybelline 'Master Precise' Liquid Eyeliner that a lot of people have been raving about. This product retails at Chemist Warehouse for about $13.95 but I got mine for half price so it was a bargain! And you guys know me when it comes to a good sale, I gotta have it.

What it claims:

  • 100% Smudge proof
  • Wears all day
  • Water proof
  • Easy removal
  • Stain free
Let's start of with the '100% Smudge proof' claim. When wearing this on my eyes, I don't really see any signs of smudging unless I rub my eyes or if they become sensitive to something. I swatched this on my hand the first time I saw it and was impressed with the longevity of the lasting power of the eyeliner when it was on my hand. It didn't slip or slide, so it gets a B+ for smudge proof (but then again this was on my hand.) On my eyes, I would say it was about 60%-70% smudge proof.

Wears all day? Definitely not. Maybe it's just my eyelids but this eyeliner does NOT wear all day. To be honest, it didn't even last a few hours on my eyes. Maybe it's because I don't let it dry enough but really, it starts to fade away gradually throughout the day. So I disagree with this claim!

This eyeliner is not even close to water-proof! I wore this today on my upper lash line and while I was peeling onions, I felt my eyes welling up and my eyeliner went nuts. It kinda started to disappear but not where my wing was but just in the middle. And it was even worse since I wasn't wearing water-proof mascara either. This eyeliner is not water friendly in my opinion! I was hoping it would be.

Definitely an A+ on easy removal. I put my makeup remover pad on my eye for literally 5 seconds and it comes off so easily. I like this because it's been super chilly where I live now and taking off makeup in cold weather is a no no for me cause it's so cold! So because it's so easy to remove, I don't mind it hehe.

Stain free? I'm not really sure what this means .. does it mean that when you drop the eyeliner on to your clothes, it's easy to remove and doesn't leave a stain? Comment below and tell me!

What I love about this pen is that the tip of the brush is super fine which makes it easy to create the perfect cat eye. It's short as well meaning that you have more control over the brush without having to worry that the line won't be straight because the tip is too long.

I swatched this to demonstrate the brush strokes that this eyeliner can do. It can be long, short, thick, skinny or even light or dark depending on how you apply it.

I'm enjoying this eyeliner so far despite it not being waterproof like it claims but it's still a good product. I'm going to continue to keep using to see how the pen holds up as some people have said that it dries out quite quickly so I'm trying to see how long this lasts.

So that's the end of my review guys, what did you think? Good purchase or nah?

Tell me below if you use the eyeliner or potentially wanna use it!

Until next time,
Nina Ngo

  1. I've heard rave reviews about this - wanted to get it during the CWH 50% off sale but they were out at the ones I went to!!! Too bad it was lacking on some of its claims though.

    1. I've been using it everyday since I bought it, it still does the job but just wears out throughout the day alittle so I make sure I bring it around with me just in case! It's actually on sale now at Priceline for $9.95 I think!
