NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer | Review

Monday, 22 September 2014

Hi guys! Back to review a cult fave amongst the YouTube and Blogosphere and it's the famous NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer and I have mine in the shade Medium Custard which is great for girls who have an NC25 to NC30 skin tone. This retails at Mecca Maxima for $35AUD or you can find it on Kiss Makeup NY for $29AUD not including shipping. I've been on the hunt for a good undereye concealer, not only to brighten but to actually conceal my dark circles and also blemishes around my face. It's available in 10 shades, ranging from fair to medium to deep.

To start off the review, let's talk about the packaging. I'm really liking the sleek and clear packaging and also the fact that it has a little weight to it. The brand and product is clearly printed on the packaging giving it a simple yet chic, modern look which I think is nice to display on the vanity. Did I mention that it has a doe-foot applicator? Well yes it does! Making it 10x easier to apply the concealer underneath the eyes and dot it around the face.

Now to talk about the actual formula. The NARS concealer is a really smooth velvety consistency, making it a dream to blend out into the skin. I've used the Maybelline Fit Me concealer and also the MAC Pro Longwear concealer before and I think NARS sits right in the middle. Not too light but also not too heavy, but the coverage is still medium to full. I think with one application can provide an adequate amount of coverage if you're looking for medium to full but with two applications, you can definitely build it up to full coverage. A benefit of this concealer is the ingredients used, it's said to be paraben, alcohol, synthetic fragrance free meaning it's a great little product to use without thinking that it will clog up your pores or break out your skin.

The way I apply this is by creating a little triangle underneath my eyes by spreading the product underneath my eyes, down towards the nose then up towards the cheek bones. I think this method really lifts up the face by concealing dark circles whilst highlighting the face and giving it a little more life on those days you just don't want to get up! I then go in with my ring finger and gently pat this into my skin (I don't recommend swiping it as it takes away some of the product) to get my desired coverage. The warmth of your fingers will melt the product, making it easier to blend into the skin. I then take a small buffing brush and blend out any edges that might seem alittle harsh and ensuring that the concealer is blended in well. Taking a loose setting powder, I pat (not sweep) a small amount underneath the eyes to lock it in place.
Overall, great product and definitely a repurchase. For those who have used the MAC Pro Longwear concealer or the Maybelline Fit Me concealer, I think you guys would like this concealer as well. Like I mentioned, it's lightweight, buildable, blendable and has a doe-foot applicator for easy use. Keep in mind that I found this product to set quite quickly so work a little fast than usual because once it sets, it won't budge. I think the only downfall is that the price tag is high compared to some other brands, but in my opinion I think it's worth it and it's also worth the hype! Leave a comment below if you've used this concealer and how you're liking it!

  1. A huuuuge NARSissist here! haha.
    My personal experience with their liquid concealers is quite limited... to one occasion, to be exact, and can I just say I love it so much because it feels so light and yet sticks to the skin really well~

    I find the idea of using concealer under my eyes daunting though, from common makeup mishaps of "not-blended enough" or "one shade too light". haha ^^;;

    Great review, Nina! I hope to read more from you~ ♥

    1. Aw thank you so much for visiting! I totally agree, I love the light-weight feeling and longevity. Haha, it is a little daunting applying certain types of concealers under the eye area but trust me, it makes all the difference! If you're about the same skin tone as me (I'm about an NC30 at MAC), try the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in shade 10! Looks really natural and adds just that bit of brightness!
