3 in 1 Review: Maybelline (Mascara, BB Cream and Colour Whisper)

Saturday, 20 July 2013

Hello darlings, hope you're you're all well! Today I will be reviewing some of the 'kind of new' (at least to me) products from the Maybelline collection. I bought these quite recently so I just wanted to give you my honest opinions on each product. Let's jump right into them shall we?

The latest item that I picked up is the Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream. It's a new formula that is designed for people who have oily skin (put your hands up if you got oily skin! -puts hands up-)

Like the Garnier BB Cream (long bottle), the tube comes with a screw off cap. It comes with 30ml worth of product and retails at Priceline for $15.95 I believe. It also has SPF 15 which is a plus. I was really interested in this BB Cream because when I swatched it in stores, it didn't feel greasy on my hands nor was it as liquidy in comparison to the Garnier BB Cream. Thinking that it wasn't as liquidy, it would provide more coverage.

This BB Cream claims 8 factors (hopefully you guys can read the photo properly!) The first time I applied this BB Cream, I noticed that it was quite similar to the Garnier BB Cream in terms of covering up the redness around my cheeks and nose area. I bought the shade 'Medium' and it did complement my skin tone quite well and when it's applied, it is a matte finish (although I do set it with a little bit of powder)

I wore this BB Cream for approximately 12 hours yesterday and I did see that I turned into a grease ball towards the end of the night. I blotted my nose and was like 'damn girl, you oily!' I didn't powder anymore for the rest of the day and during the 12 hours, it looked okay I guess but just by the end of the night my face was sliding off!

Overall I do like this BB Cream because it is similar to the Garnier BB Cream which is my favourite. Although, the only thing I would pick on about this BB Cream is that it comes with less product and is more expensive than the Garnier BB Cream! But even so, I'm still continuing to use it. Would I purchase again? I would, BUT I would probably lean towards the Garnier one more since it is cheaper and has more product.

Next product is .. the Maybelline Colour Whispers! Yes, they have finally arrived in Australia and is currently been sold in Priceline, Chemist Warehouse and Big W. I was so excited when these lip butters were released because I have heard so many good things about them through blogs and YouTube Gurus.

I bought the shade 'Lust for Blush' in number #25. It's a beautiful shade with blends of pink and berry colours which is very flattering on the lips. Since my lips are quite pigmented already, this lip butter is basically is another 'my lips BUT better' kind of colour. I love the packaging of these lip butters because they're so small and can easily be thrown into your bag. They come in 20 lovely shades but I think there's only about 9 or 10 shades in Australia which sucks. But still, the colour selection is beautiful, I recommend these lip butters! They're buttery of course, moisturising and easy to apply.

They retail at Priceline for $14.95 and at Big W for $14.75!

Last product is .. the Maybelline One by One Mascara. You guys .. I've been loving this mascara! I been using the Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara for a while now (review down below!) and haven't tried anything new since now. My friend from Sincerely Blushaholic introduced this product to me and I was quite nervous to try it because the Maybelline wands are a little to big for my tiny Asian lashes.

The wand is actually flexible so it flexes when you're applying it to your lashes. The bristles are short and when I wiggle them on to my tiny lashes, it coats all of them and gives them definition, length and volume. I like rubber wands which is why I love the Clump Crusher as well because it's easier to control and doesn't leave mascara on my eyelids. It's the regular formula and I bought it in 'Blackest Black' or 'Very Black' or something along those lines and I do recommend it.

This retails for $19.25 which is pricey in my opinion but I bought mine on sale at Chemist Warehouse for $10! So if you're interested in this mascara, I suggest you wait for the 50% sale at Chemist Warehouse to get your hand on this bad boy.

Well guys, this is the end of my review. I have some posts lining up so stay tuned!

Interested in any of the products mentioned above? Leave a comment telling me which one!

Until next time,
Nina Ngo
